The Wave surfing lake

The Wave

It’s been a pretty long road for The Wave, the largest indoor surfing lake of its kind in the world. Originally founder Nick Hounsfield wanted the site to be in a more central position, just off the Avon Portway leading in to the city of Bristol, but they’ve ended up just north of Bristol. The site though is perfect, nestled in to the Gloucestershire countryside in the village of Easter Compton. It looks breathtaking, tropical blue waters and perfect waves time after time (plus the cafe is beautifully finished).

One of the first surfers to take to the water was Marshall Janson, nominated by the son of longboard champion Ben Skinner.

Marshall had his arms and legs amputated when he contracted meningitis when he was a year old.
