Last weekend, the last weekend of my thirties, we headed off to Wales to risk a weekend of glamping with little sound insulation, power or WiFi. We hadn’t told the kids about the latter. Thankfully the rope swing at Penhein Glamping<\/a> provided enough amusement during the three warm, sunny days of our stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “glamp”-site is nestled amongst the 450 acres of the Penhein estate<\/a>, a working farm nestled between Chepstow and Newport in Wales that’s been in the same family for over 150 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are half a dozen large alachigh tents each with an en-suite toilet, kitchen, wood burning stove and large cool box (fridge sized to be exact).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On site there’s a cheats’ kitchen to use, supplies to buy (through an honesty system of card payment) and microwaves to use. It’s attached to the shower block. I feel the term ‘shower block’ does this a disservice. It’s finished to a very high standard with steaming hot showers (with each tent having an assigned shower due to Covid).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s an adventure playground on site for the kids and a map with walks around the estate. We tackled one that made its way down to a steam and pool and despite our best efforts actually found it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
